8:37PM JST - “Late mornings and lazy days”

Hi! I’m starting to write quite early today haha. To be honest, we didn’t do shit today XD We were tired from yesterday and hadn’t really planned anything. So we slept in! It was already 11:30AM when we decided to finally crawl out of bed. And even then we took it easy, only leaving the guesthouse around 1:00PM.

We of course didn’t have breakfast so we went and searched for some lunch! Well it was a nice lunch. We decided to get Soba, which is a sort of noodles. Jo-anne had cold soba which should be dipped in a cold broth and then eaten with some fried seaweed and mushroom and tempura. I had soba in warm broth with chicken and spring onion. It was quite a lunch and we were full of it too. So after we decided to roam Gion, said to be the historical center of Kyoto. Hmmm it wasn’t that special in my opinion, maybe we were there at the wrong time but the place wasn’t very lively plus there weren’t a lot of shops etc.
We did enter a garden with a lot of beautiful traditional buildings and a shrine which was very quiet and calm. Super relaxing to walk around in. There weren’t a lot of people and the weather was super nice to take strolls in. So that’ what we did.

Then we wanted to grab a drink and entered a really cozy cafe. I got a Blue Lemon drink which looked like a blue curaçao and Jo-anne had an iced Latte Machiatto. My drink was super refreshing! There was a little sparkling in it which I usually don’t really like but this was really nice~

I don’t really have anything interesting to tell about today except that for dinner we got convenience store food hahaha. They have packages with rice and other stuff which can be chicken or vegetables etc. etc. or of course they have cup noodles and snacks. You can compare convenience stores with like the little AH To go stores at stations but then not way to overpriced :D
We both got a meal package and 2 onigiri. Onirigi are riceballs with a filling, again the filling can be anything ranging from fried chicken to pickled plum to scrambled eggs and they’re delicious! Especially goof for a quick small meal/snack as their quite ‘big’.
We also got a dessert. I got a small pudding and together we also got vanilla cake rolls which were super soft and airy~ Delicious! The food is of okay quality by the way XD it’s not like 5 star food ofc but it’s not lowest of lowest quality either in my opinion.

Well that was about our day today ahahah. We really didn’t do a lot and that was nice for a day too! You don’ have to run around everyday. For tomorrow we have stuff planned though! So I can maybe write something more interesting than this XD
We’re planning to go to Arashiyama since we didn’t get to do that today! Tomorrow there’s also a light festival at Kiyomizu-dera which we want to attend in the evening! So i’m looking forward to that!

So that’s it for today. A short update but well that’s sometimes also nice hahah you don’t have to read a super long essay about our experiences~

Goodnight!

-Yaru

P.S. We got an e-mail that our USJ tickets are cancelled again and that they postphoned their re-opening till the 22nd of March... which means we can’t go because we’ll be in Tokyo by that what is on the other side on the country :,) RIP
